Happy holidays! As 2024 draws to a close, we wanted to take a look at our collection and see what the most popular picks in our little library have been. Below are lists of the top ten most circulated titles from our largest and most popular sections:

New & Popular

#1 Heart Bones: A Novel, by Colleen Hoover
#2 The Housemaid’s Secret, By Frieda McFadden
#3 The Paper Palace, by Miranda Cowley Heller
#4 Once Upon a Seaside Murder, by Maggie Blackburn
#5 The Housemaid is Watching, by Frieda McFadden
#6 It Ends With Us, by Colleen Hoover
#7 The Midnight Feast, by Lucy Foley
#8 Shelterwood: A Novel, by Lisa Wingate
#9 The Women, by Krisin Hannah
#10 The Air Raid Book Club, by Annie Lyons

Our New & Popular section of books has our newest acquisitions! We keep books there for six months, at which point we merge them with our regular collection. If you’re a regular patron, you will likely recognize many of these! Several authors did consistently well, especially Frieda McFadden and Colleen Hoover.

Adult Fiction

#1 The Housemaid, by Frieda McFadden
#2 Demon Copperhead, By Barbara Kingsolver
#3 Remarkably Bright Creatures: A Novel, by Shelby Van Pelt
#4 Dune, by Frank Herbert

#7 The Nightingale, by Kristin Hannah
#8 Rock Paper Scissors, by Alice Feeney
#9 They Called Him Preacher: The Man Behind the Legend, by William Johnstone
#10 The Black Echo, by Michael Connelly

Our Adult Fiction is the largest section of our collection. The most circulated books in Adult Fiction this year have tended to be newer books that left New and Popular, but we also see people entering long-standing series, as with The Black Echo, the first Harry Bosch novel by Michael Connelly. The Housemaid is also the top-circulating title of our entire collection in 2024! This list represents a diverse selections of genres, showing thriller, coming-of-age, mystery, science-fiction, historical fiction, western, and more! Keep it up Hadley and Luzerne!

Adult Nonfiction

#1 The 5-Ingredient Heart Healthy Cookbook, by Andy De Santis
#2 Atomic Habits: Tiny Changes, Remarkable Results, By James Clear
#3 Breakfast With Seneca: A Stoic Guide to the Art of Living, by David Fideler

Our Adult Nonfiction section is home to a large variety of books based in fact, observation, theory, or other books not rooted in fiction. Our community has been using these books to improve themselves in 2024, and it shows in the most popular non-fiction books this past year! Learning new skills, healing, and study are strong focuses present here.

Children’s Books

#1 American History: A Visual Encyclopedia, by David King
#2 Greenlight, by Brienna Carzoo
#3 Meet Bluey’s Friends
#4 Dog Man 4, by Dav Pilkey
#5 Legendary Creatures: Mythical Beasts and Spirits around the World, by Adam Auerbach

#8 Bluey: All About Bingo
#9 Books Aren’t for Bears, by Mark Barry
#10 Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Last Straw, by Jeff Kinney

This list shows all of our children’s books- fiction and nonfiction! It isn’t surprising that this list is topped by American History, given the American Revolution Experience exhibit that ran the majority of September. While Bluey, Dog Man, and Diary of a Wimpy Kid all continue to enjoy a lot of popularity, they do not stand head and shoulders above the others- circulations for Children’s Books are high and well-spread!

Have you read any of these books? See any surprises or any you thought would be there? We have other sections that aren’t shown here that are either smaller, less popular, or merged with larger sections for these lists- such as our Local Interest, Young adult, Children’s Nonfiction, and Local Author sections. If these or any of the books listed above pique your interest, we welcome you to come check them out in 2025!
