We are proud to have the opportunity to participate in the Martha’s Mittens project!

While Martha Washington stayed with her husband George Washington at Valley Forge, it is reported that she taught the wives and camp followers to knit mittens and socks for the freezing troops. Warren County’s Commission for the Celebration of the 250th Anniversary of the Revolution wishes to continue Martha’s efforts.

Red, white, and/or blue hand-knit mittens (or scarves, hats, socks) will be distributed to local veterans by Warren County Veterans Service Agency. The project will culminate on Valentine’s Day of 2025. There is a collection box in the lobby of the Rockwell Falls Public Library.
